Maha murmur as Uddhav runs in the LS elections for 23 seats

Disagreements have emerged within the MVA coalition about the allocation of Lok Sabha seats for the general election of 2024. Of Maharashtra’s 48 seats, 23 have been claimed by Shiv Sena (UBT). Rajya Sabha MP for Shiv Sena (UBT), Sanjay Raut, said that at the INDIA alliance conference in Delhi, he and party leaders Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray met with Congress chairman Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia, and Rahul Gandhi, presenting their demands for a certain number of seats.

According to a top Sena (UBT) official, the party ran for 23 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and won 19. We are willing to make a compromise, albeit it won’t be a significant one. Even though the party is divided and the majority of MPs have joined the Shiv Sena headed by Eknath Shinde, we are determined to fight at least all of the seats we have won,” an advocate of Uddhav Thackeray said.

“We are steadfast in our demand because our vote bank is intact,” he said. Ashok Chavan, a prominent Congress politician and former chief minister of Maharashtra, stressed the need of mutual adjustment among the MVA’s coalition partners. It’s true that each party aspires to a higher proportion of seats. On the other hand, Shiv Sena’s demand for 23 seats seems a little high. It has nothing to do with political realities or the actual situation on the ground, according to Chavan.

The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, headed by Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar and vying for membership in the MVA, has made a social media post requesting 12 Lok Sabha seats, with the remaining 12 going to the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress. Although VBA did not win any parliamentary seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha, its presence helped seven Congress and NCP candidates—including two former chief ministers, Ashok Chavan and Sushil Kumar Shinde—lose their elections.
