Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election 2024: Will Sanjay Dina Patil or Mihir Kotecha Win In Mumbai North East? Get Complete Schedule and Election Dates

Elections for the Lok Sabha in 2024: Mumbai has not consistently supported a single party in these elections. All six Mumbai seats were won by the Congress in 2004 and 2009; however, the BJP won all six seats in 2014 and 2019 during the Modi period. But during all of these years, Sharad Pawar led the NCP, which remained united, while the Shiv Sena and BJP were in an alliance.

For the first time, Shivsena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Congress will run for office in Mumbai as an MVA coalition. At the same time, Shivsena (Shinde), BJP, and NCP (Ajit Pawar) will unite to combat the INDIA block.

Although the Mumbai North East seat did not support a single political party, the BJP has been in power there since 2014. Due to disagreements between the BJP and Shiv Sena, well-known BJP party leader Kirit Somaiyaa was not handed a ticket for the 2019 election; instead, it went to Manoj Kotak, a former corporator for the BJP, who defeated Sanjay Dina Patil of the NCP.

Let’s examine the whole schedule and poll dates for the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha Elections.

Mumbai Northeast Tough Battles in Lok Sabha Elections
According to sources, the BJP decided not to renominate Manoj Kotak, the MP from North-East, because of opposition to the incumbent. Instead, Mihir Kotecha, the party’s incumbent Mulund MLA, was selected to win the seat for a record three times in a row.

There are a lot of voters who speak Hindi and Gujarati in the North-East seat. MLA Mihir Kotecha was the President of the Youth Wing and the Vice President of BJP Mumbai in the past.

In 2019, Kotecha, a first-time BJP sitting MLA in Maharashtra, won the Mulund constituency seat with a 56.43% vote share. To really challenge Sanjay Dina Patil, he must get more votes from Marathi-speaking regions like Bhandup and Kanjur.

In 2004, Sanjay Dina Patil was chosen from Bhandup to serve in the Maharashtra State legislature. As a candidate for the Nationalist Congress Party, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 from the Mumbai North East seat in the Indian state of Maharashtra. In both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was defeated by Kirit Somaiya and Manoj Kotak. Sanjay Dina Patil must therefore win this election in order to maintain his political career, making it very important.

Results of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections in Mumbai, North East
Manoj Kotak won 5,14,599 votes in the Mumbai North East seat, defeating Sanjay Dina Patil, the leader of the NCP at the time, who only earned 2,88,113 votes, or 32.14% of the total.
