Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections 2024: An election document discloses that Supriya Sule owes Rs 35 lakh to Sunetra Pawar

The NCP’s Sunetra Pawar and Supriya Sule will be fighting for victory in the Pawar family’s stronghold in Maharashtra’s Baramati Lok Sabha seat, and the election will be widely monitored.

News agency ANI claimed that despite their rivalry, the two contenders have an interesting financial relationship, as revealed by recent disclosures in their candidacy papers.

Sunetra Pawar has lent Rs 35 lakh to Sule and Rs 50 lakh to Pratibha Pawar for the 2024 Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections.

According to the affidavits, Sunetra Pawar lent Rs 35 lakh to Sule and Rs 50 lakh to Sharad Pawar’s wife, Pratibha. Sule has also taken out a loan of Rs 20 lakh from Parth Pawar, the son of Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Sunetra, Ajit Pawar. It’s interesting to note that the Sule family has no cars, according to ANI.

According to Sunetra Pawar’s affidavit, her family has interests in mutual funds and shares valued at around Rs 121.45 crore in addition to their property. According to ANI, her husband Ajit Pawar has assets in several banks totaling Rs 37.15 crore, while she has jewels valued at Rs 34.39 lakh.

Supriya Sule, on the other hand, has interests only in India, and she and her husband possess property valued at over Rs 150 crore. Parth Pawar and Sunetra Pawar had given Sule loans of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 35 lakh, respectively. Additionally, according to ANI, the pair has jewelry made of gold, silver, and diamonds valued at around Rs 5.45 crore.

All things considered, the affidavits highlight the applicants’ wealth and assets and provide light on their investments and financial situation. It’s anticipated that there would be fierce competition in the Baramati elections as both contenders highlight their financial clout and familial ties.

After putting on public demonstrations across the city as a show of support, both candidates submitted their nominations on Thursday at the divisional commissioner office.

Devendra Fadnavis, Sunetra Pawar’s husband Ajit Pawar, and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde all attended her public rally. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar, along with prominent Congressmen Prithviraj Chavan and Balasaheb Thorat, joined Supriya Sule’s public gathering.

On May 7, Baramati will cast its ballot.

As many as 95.54 lakh registered voters will cast ballots in the first round of voting on Friday, which will determine the destiny of 97 contenders for five of Maharashtra’s parliamentary seats.

There will be a fierce contest between the two major state coalitions, the Mahayuti (Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP)). Maharashtra is the second-largest state after Uttar Pradesh (80), which contributes 48 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
