Making history with a woman technologist in the forefront Pooram cybersecurity in Thirissur

For the first time in Thrissur Pooram’s history, a woman will be in charge of the cybersecurity plans, particularly the CCTV surveillance cover, for one of the biggest cultural events in the nation.

Akhila Jijith, a technology architect from Mankavu in Kozhikode, is shattering gender stereotypes. Akhila is working hard with her team to make sure the pooram on April 19 has a thorough CCTV monitoring system. Akhila, the CEO of Prago Advanced Technologies LLP, has made a name for herself by offering unmatched CCTV coverage of significant events in the area. But she believes that Thrissur Pooram, a cultural extravaganza with grandeur only surpassed by the Kumbh Mela, presents special difficulties and security issues.

“Many individuals are drawn to Thirissur Pooram. Organizing surveillance for an event of this magnitude presents a unique set of difficulties. The event has several difficulties because of its central Thrissur location, its open atmosphere, last-minute schedule adjustments, liaising with the pooram committee and other officials, and the intense sun, Akhila told TNIE.

When one considers the complex wiring needed for the cameras and potential voltage fluctuations, one can begin to see the scope of the challenge.

“Therefore, as a budding entrepreneur, it is a challenge for me to manage the control room of the Pooram’s Cyber Cell from day one of camera setup,” she said.

But Akhila has stepped up to the plate. She claimed to have managed the incorporation of more than 500 cameras from across the city into a centralized monitoring cell that was created especially for the occasion. The extensive monitoring system, which guarantees few blind spots, is another evidence of Akhila’s leadership and inventiveness.

“My spouse Jijith, who possesses extensive knowledge in CCTV surveillance systems, is also assisting me in this enormous project,” Akhil said.

Akhila and her crew had a difficult time getting the pooram’s security to be impenetrable. They had to overcome challenges along the route, such negotiating the corporation’s permit requirements and adjusting to last-minute changes like the dismantling of VIP pavilions. The difficulties they have in installing wires across vedikettu and elephant crossing zones add to the intricacy of their project.
