Making it to the IAS is Baba Bakala Naib Tehsildar

After placing 174th in the UPSC results that were released a few days ago, Gaurav Upal, a 26-year-old who is now employed at Baba Bakala as Naib Tehsildar, is scheduled to start his career as an IAS officer. Gaurav, a Kapurthala native, has been Baba Bakala’s Naib Tehsildar since 2023. He has made two prior attempts to pass the UPSC civil services test. It was his third go at it.

After their meeting, Gaurav was referred to as a “hardworking young officer, who has all the qualities for leading the administrative force of the country” by DC Thori of Amritsar. Gaurav, a Delhi-born BTech, claimed to have started studying for the tests during the COVID shutdown.

“I focused on passing the UPSC during that period since I had failed it the last two times. While I concentrated on passing the UPSC in 2023, the Punjab government also chose me for a position as Naib Tehsildar in Kapurthala. He claimed to have studied for his test at the time.
