Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of Congress, has been proposed to lead the India Bloc

According to reports, the INDIA Bloc put forth Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress, to lead the group on Saturday. The Opposition coalition hasn’t yet made a formal statement on the subject, however.

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, was being considered for the position, but at today’s meeting, he said that a member of the Congress should take the lead, according to sources.

Following lengthy discussions, Kharge’s name was put up for the position of chief.

Representatives of JD(U) said that Nitish Kumar was not seeking a post when his name was proposed as convenor. Kharge’s name was then put up to be the chairwoman. However, the ultimate decision would be made later since Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee were not present at the meeting, according to sources.

The decision was made at a virtual conference of the INIDA bloc leaders earlier today to address issues pertaining to the grouping, including participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and the agenda item for seat sharing.

Under the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), as many as 28 opposition parties have united to challenge and ultimately defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The INDIA party, which was founded primarily to oppose and defeat the BJP in the 2024 elections, is facing difficulties inside the coalition, one of them being the divisive convenor selection.
