Mamata alleges that agency sleuths “attacked” and “instigated” women in East Malaysia in the NIA attack

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, said on Saturday that NIA agents had assaulted women in the East Midnapore area, forcing the locals to take revenge.

Speaking at a polling place in Balurghat, in the South Dinajpur district of the state, Banerjee said that the villagers were heckled by the central investigation agency team as they came at their houses early on Saturday morning because of a reported incidence of “bursting of crackers in 2022.”

The leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said, “The NIA team was not attacked by Bhupatinagar women; the villagers were attacked by agency officers.”

“If the women are attacked, will they back down?” Mamata inquired, mentioning that the incident outraged the residents, resulting in demonstrations in the vicinity.

Banerjee also said that the BJP administration in Washington was attempting to influence the elections via federal agencies.

She said, “We want the Election Commission to function impartially, not become a commission run by the BJP.”

Central agencies, the BJP’s “brothers”
She questioned the EC’s decision to remove state police personnel and questioned why the ED, CBI, and IT staff had not been replaced.

“The ED and IT are funding boxes of the BJP; the NIA and CBI are brothers of the BJP,” Banerjee said.

“If the BJP is in power, fight the election democratically to win.” At the demonstration, she yelled, “Don’t arrest my election agents and booth-level workers.”

She also denounced the federal authorities’ detention of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on charges of alleged land scams and excise policies, respectively.

“The elections have to be held on an even playing field,” Mamata said.

An NIA team launched an assault.
In the East Midnapore area of Bhupatinagar, early on Saturday morning, people attacked a van carrying NIA officers. The NIA detectives had travelled to Bhupatinagar to look into a blast case from 2022 that occurred at a TMC leader’s home.

After making two arrests in connection with the case in the early hours of Saturday morning, a top police officer said that the NIA team was assaulted while travelling to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.
