Man shoots dead Delhi officer before committing suicide

On Tuesday in North East Delhi, a 44-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing an assistant sub-inspector before taking his own life.

According to police sources, the incident, which was caused by a financial disagreement, happened while the officer was riding his motorcycle. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), Joy Tirkey, said that Amit Kumar, 30, another victim, was shot by the accused, Mukesh, when he was riding his bike.

Around 11:42 a.m., police got a PCR call about many gunshots at the Meet Nagar Flyover, killing ASI Dinesh Sharma, who was assigned to the Delhi Police Special Branch, and injuring another person.

Mukesh from Nand Nagri has been recognized as the accused. The police claim that after conducting a preliminary investigation, they learned that the accused knew the policeman and was reportedly involved in a financial dispute with him.

We are attempting to determine if the accused’s argument with the police officer led to the latter’s commission of the offense. Investigations continue,” the DCP said.

“A police team arrived at the scene and discovered that Mukesh had shot Sharma dead before shooting Kumar, who had a leg injury,” DCP Tirkey said. After that, he got into an autorickshaw and requested that it transport him out of the area. The accused fired again while the driver of the car protested, but the driver got away unharmed.

“It seems that the defendant took his own life inside the car. After the other two wounded guys were sent to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, the ASI was pronounced deceased. Amit Kumar is receiving medical attention,” the DCP said.

From the three shooting locations, many live bullets and empty bullet casings were found, according to the police. There is a recorded case of attempted murder, murder, and gun usage.
