Ileana D’Cruz explains how declining South cinema offers resulted toward her signing ‘Barfi!’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra

Ileana D’Cruz recently said that there was a belief held by some that she would only concentrate on Bollywood and get disinterested in working in South Indian movies. The actress also discussed the factors that led her to accept “Barfi!”

Ileana stressed that her foray into Hindi film was not meant to be a full shift in an interview with India Today.Instead, it was the result of her sincere appreciation for the “Barfi!” writing. She thought it was an interesting tale that she wouldn’t expect to hear again. She decided not to turn it down since she saw it as a unique chance. She made it clear that this choice did not represent a permanent departure from South Indian cinema or a change in attention to Bollywood alone.

When Ileana signed up for ‘Barfi!’, she felt a myth beginning to circulate that she was leaving South Indian film behind and moving to Bollywood. As a result, she saw a drop in Southern offers. She acknowledged this change in perspective but also said that after joining Bollywood, she started to be pickier about the assignments she took on.

Ileana said that she didn’t think much of her work has been acknowledged in the business when questioned about her perspective of being recognized.

Ileana most recently starred in “Do Aur Do Pyaar,” directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, which debuted in theaters on April 19. Pratik Gandhi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Vidya Balan are also featured in the movie. Before that, on March 8, she co-starred with Randeep Hooda in the film “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely.” Balwinder Singh Janjua, the film’s director, also has important parts for Varun Sharma and Karan Kumar.

On a personal note, on August 1, 2023, the actress and her boyfriend Michael Dolan had their first child, Koa Phoenix Dolan.
