‘Manjummel Boys’ producers are accused of cheating

KOCHI: Based on a complaint submitted by an investor alleging that the creators of the recent hit “Manjummel Boys” broke their commitment to him over the profit share of the film, Maradu police have opened a cheating investigation against the producers.

According to the directive of the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court, we filed a complaint against the producers on Tuesday, according to station house officer Saju George.

Siraj Valiyathara, an Aroor native, had earlier charged that partner Shawn Antony and producers “Parava Films” had broken a pledge to provide him with a 40% profit share after the movie’s premiere.

The producers’ bank accounts were also to be frozen, under the court’s decision.

The complainant claims that after the active partners of “M/s Parava Films LLP” reached a deal with him on November 30, 2022, he deposited Rs 7 crore in the business.

But after the movie’s overwhelming success, the producers broke their promise and haven’t given him any money—not even the investment.

“Manjummel Boys,” which starred Sreenath Bhasi and Soubin Shahir, was a big success and made an estimated Rs 250 crore.
