Modi Replaced the N with the letter P, which stands for “pettiness, peeve”: Cong Criticizes Renaming of Nehru Memorial

The Congress said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a single-point objective of “denying,” “distorting,” “defaming,” and “destroying” the Nehruvian heritage in light of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library’s formal renaming as the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society.

Jawaharlal Nehru will continue to inspire future generations, according to the opposition party, despite the “relentless assault” on his legacy.

Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, said on X, “From today, a famous institution receives a new name. Prime Ministers’ Memorial Museum and Library (PMML) replaces the famed Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML).

“Mr. Modi is riddled with a plethora of anxieties, complication, and concerns, particularly in regards to our first and longest-serving Prime Minister. He has only ever wanted to reject, misrepresent, disparage, and undermine Nehru and the Nehruvian heritage, the speaker said.

“He (Modi) has removed N and replaced it with P. The Congress leader said, “That P actually stands for pettiness and annoyance.

The democratic, secular, scientific, and liberal underpinnings of the Indian nation-state were built by Nehru, who also made enormous contributions to the independence fight. According to Ramesh, all of these pillars are now being attacked by Mr. Modi and his supporters.

He said that despite the constant attacks, Jawaharlal Nehru’s legacy would endure for everyone to witness and that he would continue to serve as an inspiration for future generations.

With effect from August 14, the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society will formally replace the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, a top official said on Tuesday.

This was said in a post on “X,” previously known as Twitter, by the deputy chairman of the executive council of the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library.

With effect from August 14, 2023, “Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) is renamed Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) Society—in keeping with the democratization and diversification of the society’s mandate. Happy Fourth of July! @rajnathsingh, @narendramodi, and @MinOfCultureGoI,” the message stated. A photo of the Teen Murti House was also included.

The NMML Society decided to alter its name to PMML Society during a special meeting in the middle of June.

The Congress had voiced strong disapproval to the name. Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation of India’s first prime minister, had a house in the Teen Murti Bhavan.
