Mohali had two homes broken into

Yesterday afternoon, thieves broke into two homes in Phase 7 and took personal belongings from each. The neighbors said that since the owners moved overseas, both residences had been locked for a while.

Housemaids from neighboring homes realized this morning that the doors and locks of the residences were smashed. After being made aware of it, the homeowners got in touch with the local council member, and a PCR was dispatched to the location.

Locals said that unauthorized scrap traders and ragpickers were constantly prowling the neighborhood, surveying potential targets’ homes.

Theft at Swastik Vihar in Zirakpur

Criminals in Zirakpur took thousands of rupees’ worth of cash and jewelry from a locked home in Swastik Vihar Colony on the Zirakpur-Patiala road. The lock on the property was broken. The home’s owner, Himanshu, filed a police complaint claiming that he runs a ready-made clothing store in Sector 22 and that when he returned home in the evening, he saw that all of his possessions were strewn around the house and that the main door’s lock was broken. He continued by saying that from the residence, robbers took around Rs 1 lakh, two gold chains, a silver bracelet, and other pieces of valuables. A theft report has been filed with the police.
