Nahan SDM requests that authorities carry out their constitutional duties

Salim Azam, the Assistant Registration Officer and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nahan, emphasized the vital role of officials and employees deployed on election duty in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections and urged them to approach their responsibilities with seriousness and enthusiasm.

Speaking at the Government Post Graduate College in Nahan for the first election rehearsal program for presiding officers and assistant presiding officers, Azam emphasized the value of democracy and urged attendees to see their duty as voters as a constitutional duty rather than a burden.

Officers received training on the whole election process during the practice session. This included information on how to securely deposit election documents and EVM machines after voting, as well as how to transfer these items to polling places.

Azam emphasized the use of GPS-equipped cars supplied by the government for the transportation of EVM machines and election supplies in an effort to maintain security and transparency. He gave his word that housing and food would be provided for the authorities working at the polling places.

The rehearsal also included hands-on instruction on EVM machines from nodal officials Hari Sharma and Anup Kumar, among others. Tehsildar Nahan Upendra Chauhan and the election-appointed Sector Magistrates were also there to supervise the proceedings.

Azam emphasized the need of giving vulnerable populations, like elderly people, people with disabilities, and pregnant women, priority when it comes to the voting process and urged election officials to make sure their requirements are satisfied.
