Police said that a tourist vehicle struck by a lorry from behind on Monday caused a traffic accident in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupathur that resulted in at least seven fatalities and ten major injuries. The wounded were sent to a neighboring hospital.

They claim that the victims were sitting on the side of the road when the tragedy took place.

According to cops, they were waiting because the car they were in broke down.

The dead were named as M. Meena (age 50), D. Devayani (age 32), P. Saittu (age 55), S. Devika (age 50), V. Savitri (age 42), K. Kalavathi (age 50), and R. Geetha (age 34), all residents of Pernambut town in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.

The crash happened a week after a family of six was killed when their minivan collided with a vehicle on the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway in Tamil Nadu. The incident was caught on video, and it showed a white fast minivan slamming into a stopped car.

According to a PTI report, a pickup van carrying three people—including a toddler—was struck by a vehicle on Sunday in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, inflicting 16 injuries on top of the three fatalities.

According to the officials, the incident happened on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway close to the town of Bhensi.
