OBC Quota Won’t Be Impacted, Declares Maha Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in Response to Demand for Maratha Reservation

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, has said that the current makeup of the Other Backward Class (OBC) quota would not be changed despite the Maratha demand and protest for reservation.

After paying a visit to the demonstrators at the site of the continuing relay hunger strike by the National OBC Federation and Sarvashakiya OBC Kunbi Federation in Nagpur, he said, “The government’s stand is that no injustice will be done to the OBC community.”

Babanrao Taiwade, Sudhakar Kohre, Sameer Meghe, Parinay Fuke, Ashish Deshmukh, and Pravin Datke were in his company.

Fadnavis claimed to have encountered OBC quota protesters at Sambhajinagar.

“The Maratha community wants to reclaim the same level of quota that they had when I was Chief Minister. A corrective petition has been submitted for the issue, and efforts are being made to put the Justice Bhonsle Committee’s recommendations into practice, he said.

“A Justice Shinde committee has now been established to further investigate the Kunbi-Maratha matter. In a month, the committee will turn in its report. The two communities shouldn’t be at odds with one another given the circumstances. That is not what the government wants either. Each community’s issues should be handled independently, according to Fadnavis.

The deputy CM listed the tasks completed so far: “We have issued 26 GRs for the OBC community. Many of them have already been put into practice, while work is still being done on the others.

We just had a meeting to talk about the topic of establishing hostels in each area. Scholarship has been a topic of discussion. A conference with all parties involved would be called soon in Mumbai to go through further issues, he promised.

The OBCs will greatly gain from the Vishwakarma plan, which the prime minister is about to introduce.

TEMPORARY CONTRACTUAL Appointments

Fadnavis said that the rumors of appointments made on a contractual basis were just a temporary measure. Permanent appointments need time, therefore work must continue till then. Contractual appointments are made in accordance with precedent; even this was decided by the previous administration. We have made certain that the people employed get direct deposits into their accounts. Our choice is to fill 75,000 positions. The number is still below 1.5 lakh. All open positions will ultimately be filled, according to Fadnavis.
