Officials: Afghan National apprehended intruder along the LoC in J-K’s Poonch

An invader with a handicap in his left leg who was apprehended by the Army two days ago in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir is an Afghan citizen, according to authorities.

Abdul Wahid, a man in his early 20s, was first thought to be a citizen of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) who had unintentionally crossed over to this side before being apprehended by the Army on Monday in the Dabi-Basuni hamlet in the Balakote sector, close to the border fence.

Wahid, an Afghan national, was turned up to police late on Tuesday night. The purpose of his interrogation is to determine why he entered this side, a police official stated.

The officer said that this was the first arrest of an Afghan citizen along the LoC in the Mendhar subdivision of Poonch, but nothing incriminating was found in his hands.

According to the authorities, after finishing Wahid’s interrogation, the Army turned him over to the police in accordance with the law.

Two soldiers from the Army were seen on camera assisting the disabled guy to exit the car and enter the police station.

The authorities said that they had retrieved some Pakistani money from him.
