In an unprecedented move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the groundwork for the rehabilitation of 508 railway stations around the nation via video conference on Sunday.

The Prime Minister has often emphasized the need of providing cutting-edge public transportation. Noting that trains are the most popular means of transportation in the nation, he has emphasized the need of offering world-class facilities at railway stations. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was developed with this objective in mind, with the goal of redeveloping 1,309 stations around the nation.

The Prime Minister is laying the groundwork for the rehabilitation of 508 stations as part of this project. The redevelopment of these stations would cost more than Rs 24,470 crores. Master plans are being developed for the development of these stations as ‘City Centres’, with good integration of both sides of the city. This integrated strategy is motivated by the holistic vision of the city’s entire urban development, which is centered around the train station.

These 508 stations are located in 27 states and union territories, including 55 in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana, and 13 in Karnataka.

The reconstruction will include contemporary passenger facilities as well as well-designed traffic circulation, inter-modal integration, and well-designed signs for passenger guiding. The station buildings’ design will be influenced by local culture, tradition, and architecture.
