Outcry over derogatory remarks made against Chirag Paswan’s mother at the RJD’s electoral rally in Bihar

A video apparently showing RJD activists using harsh language against LJP (Ram Vilas) chairman Chirag Paswan’s mother, Reena Paswan at RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s election rally has gone viral one day before Bihar’s four Lok Sabha constituencies go to elections.

According to reports, RJD activists disparaged Chirag’s mother during a rally in the Jamui constituency, where Chirag’s brother-in-law Arun Bharti is running for office. It was when party members were using the allegedly obscene language on the dais that RJD candidate Archana Ravidas was there.

Chirag reacted angrily, saying, “Tejashwi was on the dais when RJD employees verbally abused my family. Tejashwi was staying silent to ensure that his party members completed making offensive remarks about my mother and sister, rather than intervening to stop them. It’s very regrettable.

“Have I used abusive language?” Tejashwi questioned reporters as they walked up to him. I’ve seen the video as well. It was done by someone from the assembly, not by anybody on the dais. “I would not have tolerated” if he had heard Chirag’s mother being disparaged in such a way.

“Until now, RJD goons used to attack Dalits behind the camera and played with our honour,” former chief minister and supporter of Hindustani Awam Morcha Jitan Ram Manjhi wrote on X. “But in Jamui, a Dalit leader like Chirag was abused along with his mother and sister on the instructions of Tejashwi.” It is deplorable. On election day, the people of Bihar will exact payback for all of your insults.
