Phase 1 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Maharashtra’s five seats saw 7.3 percent of the vote by 9 am

Up till nine in the morning, Maharashtra had a 7.3% turnout in the first round of the Lok Sabha elections across five seats. These seats include Nagpur, Ramtek (SC), Bhandara-Gondia, Chandrapur, and the east of the state’s Gadchiroli-Chimur (ST) constituency, which is plagued by the Naxals.

Gadchiroli-Chimur had the greatest voting participation by 9 am, with 8.43% of people casting votes for the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024, followed by Nagpur with 7.73%. The percentages for Chandrapur and Bhandara-Gondia were 7.44 and 7.22, respectively. By nine in the morning, Ramtek had the lowest voter turnout, at 5.82 percent.

Across these seats, the average turnout was 7.3%.

There will be four stages to the voting process for the 43 additional Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, and they will take place between April 26 and May.

These seats are situated in the Vidarbha region, which has 95,54,667 voters. The PTI article went on to say that there are 347 transgender voters, 48,28,142 male voters, and 47,26,178 female voters.

According to the article, senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari will take on Congressman Vikas Thakre in Nagpur, Congresswoman Pratibha Dhanorkar in Chandrapur, and BJP leader Sunil Mendhe will take on Congressman Dr. Prashant Patole in Bhandara-Gondia.

Meanwhile, Ashok Nete of the BJP takes on Congressman Namdev Kirsan in the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli-Chimur seat, while Raju Parwe of the Shiv Sena opposes Congressman Shyamkumar Barwe in Ramtek, according to the PTI report.

Some assembly segments—most notably, those in the Naxal-affected area—will cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while other areas will remain open to vote until 6 p.m.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Maharashtra’s remaining 43 seats will be polled

On April 26, 2024, eight constituencies—Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani—will participate in the second round of voting.

Eleven constituencies—Raigad, Baramati, Dharashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and Hatkanangle—will have their third round of voting on May 7, 2024.

On June 4, 2024, seats in Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna, Sambhajinagar, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi, and Beed will be up for election in the fourth phase.

On May 20, 2024, 13 constituencies—Washim, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Welfare, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South Central, and Mumbai South—will participate in the fifth and final round of voting.
