Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voter participation in Manipur was 33.22 percent till 11 a.m

As voting in the remaining areas of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency began on Friday under heavy security, 33.22 percent of voters cast ballots, according to authorities.

According to them, voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 2 has begun at 857 polling places spread over 13 assembly segments in eight districts.

The Tengnoupal assembly section had the largest attendance in the first two hours, at 45.28 percent, while the Jiribam assembly segment had the lowest, at 23.24 percent.

Together with the whole Inner Manipur seat, fifteen assembly segments of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency participated in the first round of voting on April 19.

In the race for Outer Manipur, there are four contenders: K Timothy Zimik of the NPF, Alfred Kanngam Arthur of the Congress, S Kho John, and Alyson Abonmai, independents. The NPF is the BJP’s ally, and the party has not filed a candidate.

In this phase, more than 4.84 lakh persons are eligible to vote.

In order to guarantee free and fair elections, 4,000 state police officers and 87 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been deployed, greatly enhancing security measures across all 13 assembly divisions where voting is taking place.
