PM Modi: NDA Not Selfish Like UPA

The NDA, in contrast to the UPA, is about sacrifice rather than selfishness, the prime minister of India has said.

In advance of the general elections in 2024, Modi reportedly asked the NDA to concentrate on matters other than Ram Mandir.

The Prime Minister asked the MPs to go local and spend more time with the people at a meeting with MPs from Uttar Pradesh today, according to NDTV.

According to the report, MPs from West Uttar Pradesh, Braj, and the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region attended the meeting.

Additionally, it was stated that Modi had encouraged the MPs to visit events that people attended, including as weddings, and speak about local concerns in their particular areas.

“Convince those who are sulky, angry, spend more and more time with the public during elections,” PM Modi told NDA MPs, according to the article.

Invoking “coalition dharma,” he said that, in contrast to the UPA, the NDA is focused on sacrifice rather than self-interest.

As an example, PM Modi referenced Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, who, according to him, was appointed despite having less legislators than the BJP, but who yet broke from the alliance and joined the opposition.

The NDA did not request the position of Deputy Chief Minister, the statement said, “despite having a sizable number of MLAs in the government with the Akali Dal in Punjab.”

The 430 NDA MPs have been split into 11 groups by the BJP, who will meet with PM Modi in turn till August 10.

96 MPs from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep would attend the next round of discussions, it added.

The discussions, according to the statement, “are intended to ensure greater cohesion and synergy within the alliance prior to the election.”
