PM Modi Presides Over High-Level Meeting To Examine Heatwave Conditions Preparedness

New Delhi: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting to assess readiness for the next heat wave season. The prime minister was briefed on the temperature outlook for the April–June 2024 period, which included forecasts for the upcoming hot weather season (April–June) and the probability of above-normal maximum temperatures over most of the nation, particularly over Central India and the western peninsula of India.

The Prime Minister’s Office said that the health sector’s readiness was assessed with regard to drinking water, ice packs, ORS, vital medications, and IV fluids.

It was emphasised how important it is to promptly distribute vital IEC and awareness materials across various media, including radio, television, and social media, particularly in regional languages.

Given that 2024 would have a hotter-than-normal summer and the General Elections, it was decided that the MoHFW and NDMA advisories should be translated into regional languages and extensively publicised.

The prime minister emphasised the government’s overall strategy. He emphasised that several Ministries and all branches of the federal, state, and local governments needed to collaborate on this.

The prime minister also emphasised raising awareness and providing hospitals with the necessary resources. He also emphasised the need of promptly detecting and extinguishing forest fires.

Attending the conference were representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Home Secretary, and the Principal Secretary to the PM.
Beginning on April 19, there will be seven stages of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Voter tallying on June 4th
