Police suspect that the elderly couple from Panchkula was attacked for loot

Mukesh Malhotra, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), said today that the three attackers who assaulted an elderly couple in Sector 2 here on Wednesday, killing the wife, had come to the residence just to steal.

Malhotra said that the three boys, one of whom had previously served as a caregiver for the couple, had planned the assault. The police have ruled out any animosity between the attackers and the couple based on their early investigation.

The horrific killing happened around 1:00 pm. Anuradha Sharma, the daughter of the Colonel, was out and about in the local market, leaving the old couple, their maid, Ram Murti, and their recently hired driver at home.

Anuradha said in her police report that the three attackers targeted her parents with the intention of robbing them.

According to Malhotra, the issue was resolved after the three attackers—Bittu and Vijay, who live in Sector 7 here in Kharak Mangoli, and Vijay, a native of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh—were apprehended.

Vijay had worked for the couple, he added, about half a year before. Under the guise of seeing the couple, he went to the residence with his cronies and assaulted them with the goal of robbing them. They have a long knife and a sharp weapon,” he said.

The authorities have also ruled out the chance that driver Deepak was involved in any of this. He was the only one who had not been injured by the attackers. In addition, he was seen leaving the house with the attackers in a nonchalant manner, which casts doubt on his participation.

Malhotra said that after the incident, the three attackers intimidated the driver and forced him to join them on a neighboring highway.

Within 12 hours after the incident, the detectives had apprehended the murderers. Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, the three were apprehended in Vikas Nagar when they were trying to escape. They intended to switch to UP,” he said. They said that there is no threat for RK Sharma or Maid Ram Murti.

Driver involvement was deemed out

The police have concluded that driver Deepak was not involved in the crime. Following the incident, the three attackers forced the driver to join them on a neighboring highway by threatening him with terrible repercussions, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Mukesh Malhotra.
