Professor Arvind leaves Punjabi University

Officials and employees gave Vice-Chancellor Arvind a heartfelt send-off as he finished his three-year tenure at Punjab University.

Prof. Arvind said that he felt at home at the institution and that he had been able to carry out his duties there for the last three years because of the abundant support he had gotten from academics and staff members in every department.

The VC expressed his genuine emotions, saying that while he had been employed in the business world in places like Chennai, he was always pulled to Punjab.

He thought he had returned to Punjab because of what he had experienced during these three years at Punjab University.

He complimented the university for being a special place that had given him the freedom to freely express his opinions.

He said that the organization had given him a forum to fearlessly voice his opinions on any topic. He emphasized how crucial it is to never forget that academic freedom is something that institutions should always uphold, even in the face of governments and central regulatory bodies linking them to their financial and administrative concerns.

He emphasized how important it is for colleges to never lose sight of this independence while formulating curricula, ranking systems, and committees like the UGC. Additionally, he emphasized the need of raising the bar for research in the future, saying that poor quality research can only be detrimental to society. He expressed gratitude to the Punjabi government for assisting the institution throughout its financial hardship.

Several speakers commended Professor Arvind for his excellent and productive career at the institution as well as the choices he made under trying circumstances. They said that Prof. Arvind’s efforts had always been directed at making sure he left behind a respectful legacy.

Prof. Arvind gave them appropriate direction at every stage of administration and academic matters and let them to operate freely and independently, according to Dean of Academic matters AK Tiwari.

Manjeet Patiala, Dean of Research, said that the VC have the individual capacity to make judgments and carry them out successfully. According to Gurmukh Singh, dean of alumni, the departing VC created a link between science and literature.
