Punjab CEO resolves 1,600 complaints of election code violations

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C hosted a Facebook live session today called “Talk to your CEO Punjab” as part of a first-of-its-kind effort to raise voter awareness and get recommendations for improving the effectiveness and transparency of the electoral process.

The CEO answered a number of voter questions throughout the session and encouraged them to cast their ballots.

He said that since Punjab’s voting percentage in the 2019 Lok Sabha election was 65.96 percent, a goal of more than 70 percent voter participation had been established.

The CEO continued by saying that the EC has already received over 1,600 complaints about alleged breaches of the model code of conduct. He said that every grievance had been resolved. On the C-vigil app, the EC received 1,059 complaints. The CEO said that 689 of them had been resolved in less than a day, and 733 of them had been confirmed.
