Punjab farmers union will oppose BJP candidates

The Bharti Kissan Union Punjab (Lakhowal) has declared their opposition to BJP candidates all throughout the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Farmers’ unions have already launched protests against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Central Government, claiming that it has not complied with their demands for legal guarantees of maximum support price (MSP) for crops, justice in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, compensation for farmers killed in the “Kisan Andolan,” and other things.

Under the direction of its state chairman, Harinder Singh Lakhowal, the BKU Lakhowal convened its monthly meeting today at the union’s headquarters in Ludhiana. Senior union officials, including Avatar Singh Mehlon, were in attendance.

Harinder Singh Lakhowal said that all political parties have resumed misleading the public with false promises shortly after the Lok Sabha election declaration.

According to Lakhowal, the Election Commission has to make firm judgments so that, in exchange for votes, the winning party honors whatever pledges it makes to the electorate. In their addresses to the group, Manpreet Singh, Baldev Singh Shahkot, Parshotam Singh, and Harminder Singh Khaira all agreed that the union would run against the BJP in all of Punjab in the Lok Sabha elections.

Nirmal Singh Jhanduke, Gulzaar Singh Ghalkalan, and Surat Singh Kadarwala said at the meeting that the Punjab government had started to shut off electricity throughout the day. The government must guarantee the discharge of water into canals and other bodies of water, as well as the availability of energy necessary to operate water pumps throughout the day, in order to irrigate crops including rice, wheat, maize, sugarcane, and vegetables.
