Put an end to the “harassment” of the Uttarakhand gurdwara panelists: SGPC’s Akal Takht

Akal Takht and the SGPC have appealed to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to put an end to the police’s alleged harassment of the gurdwara committee after observing the “harassment” of the local gurdwara management committee members in the murder case of Baba Tarsem Singh at Gurdwara Sri Nanakmatta Sahib in Uttarakhand on March 28.

Although Baba Tarsem Singh’s murder was a regrettable occurrence, according to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, the Uttarakhand police have been persecuting innocent Sikh youngsters by accusing them of being involved in the crime.

He said, “It is constitutionally his duty as the chief minister of Uttarakhand to recognize the gravity of the situation and to issue an immediate directive prohibiting any member of the Gurdwara management committee from being harassed needlessly.”

The majority of the Gurdwara Sri Nanakmatta Sahib management committee members, according to SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, wrote a letter to the organization expressing their concern that the government was attempting to take over the Gurdwara’s management under the guise of the baba’s murder.

“The Sikh community will not accept such methods, if such is the case. The Gurdwara Sri Nanakmatta Sahib’s elected management committee represents the views of the “sangat,” and government interference needs to cease right now. Nobody should be harassed who is innocent. “I also request the intervention of CM,” he said.

Four suspects, named Dilbagh Singh, Amandeep Singh, Harminder Singh, and Balkar Singh, have been proclaimed apprehended by the SIT. However, the two main suspects, Amarjit Singh and Sarabjit Singh Mianwind, who are from Tarn Taran and Amritsar, respectively, are still at large. Amarjit was purportedly riding a pillion while Mianwind was operating the motorcycle.
