Raghubar Das Is Devoted To Taking Odisha To New Heights

Raghubar Das, the recently appointed governor of Odisha, said on Wednesday that he would carry out his constitutional responsibilities in cooperation with the state administration.

During his first visit to Ranchi as governor, Das pledged to elevate Odisha to unprecedented levels. Ganeshi Lal, whose term expired in May, is replaced by him.

The former chief minister of Jharkhand assured reporters, “I will discharge my constitutional responsibilities within the constitutional framework in coordination with the state government.”

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda for their nomination for the constitutional position, Das said that since 1980, he has carried out all of the party’s given responsibilities with honesty.

“Now this (the post of governor ) is a new and completely different responsibility, a constitutional one,” he said.

Das, who served as Jharkhand’s first non-tribal chief minister from 2014 to 2019, was born in Bhalubasa, Jamshedpur, on May 3, 1955. His dad was a manual laborer.

He graduated with a science degree from Bhalubasa Harijan High School and went on to finish his education.

His political career started during the 1976–1977 student movement, when he was imprisoned due to an emergency. In 1977, he joined the Janata Party, but subsequently he joined the BJP.

He was named the BJP state president of the recently created state of Jharkhand in 2004. First in the Babulal Marandi government, then again in the two governments that followed under Arjun Munda, he was made a minister of state. In 2009, he served as the Shibu Soren government’s deputy chief minister.
