Rajasthan’s CM Gehlot writes to PM Modi on the NDRF regulations

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that the regulations of the NDRF and SDRF be changed. He said that the “change in the rules by the Centre” has resulted in a delay in the disbursement of compensation to the affected people.

After doing an airborne tour of the Cyclone Biparjoy-affected regions in the Jalore and Sirohi districts on Tuesday, Gehlot spoke to the media and stated that the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and SDRF’s guidelines had been modified by the Centre.

I’ve written to the prime minister, and the state’s chief secretary is speaking with Centre authorities about changing these restrictions, he said.

Gehlot said that other states, except Rajasthan, are also unable to provide compensation in a timely manner.

“What good is compensation if it is not paid promptly? It is a significant issue, the CM remarked.

Gehlot visited the residents of Sanchore after the airborne inspection and gave them his word that the government will provide every aid.

Sanchore in the Jalore district has been devastated by the cyclone’s wrath when the Suvana dam, a significant structure in the area, collapsed and flooded 25 settlements.

Gehlot also conducted an airborne reconnaissance of the Sirohi area, where Mount Abu and Sheoganj, respectively, got 360 mm and 315 mm of rain.
