Rajputs in Haryana demand that the BJP boycott

Ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, representatives of the Rajput community in Haryana have echoed similar views after making a plea to resist the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

Members of the community are already bitter because of the ongoing dispute about the identification of Kaithal’s 9th-century Hindu ruler, Mihir Bhoj. On July 20 of last year, his statue—which showed him as a monarch from the Gurjar community—was presented. The fire has now been fueled by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala’s comments on Kshatriyas, claiming that past “maharajas” dined with the British and married their daughters to them. Rupala has subsequently issued an apology for his remarks, however.

The BJP-supporting Rajputs in the state would organize panchayats in opposition to the party. The community voiced dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.
