Re-interrogation of P K Biju in the Karuvannur case

P K Biju, a former MP and member of the CPM state secretariat, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday as part of the Karuvannur Service Cooperative Bank money laundering investigation. Biju was questioned for the third time in the previous seven days.

The questioning, which began at eleven in the morning, went into the night. He was questioned on April 4 and 8 earlier. A committee led by Biju carried out an internal investigation into the bank’s loan misuse, which was mandated by CPM.

In a same vein, the ED had said that Biju was connected to Satheeshkumar, a financier headquartered in Thrissur, who was the main accused. Following former minister A C Moideen and state committee member M K Kannan, Biju is the third state-level CPM politician to be questioned by the CBI in connection with the issue.
