Religious Institutions Serve As Wall-To-Wall Icons Of Harmony In Palayam, Kerala

A photo of the Palayam Ganapathy Temple and Palayam Juma Masjid in Thiruvananthapuram sharing a wall has gone viral on social media, showcasing the unity between the communities in Kerala. St. Joseph’s Latin Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral Palayam is a cathedral that adds to the coexistence symbolism that characterizes Keralan society. The Palayam Ganapathy Temple is undergoing minor renovation work at the moment, according to Local 18 Thiruvananthapuram. The height of the mosque, church, and Ganapati temple will all be equal if a new ornate mandapam is built. For those who are unaware, the mandapam in a Hindu temple is a porch-like building that is accessed by an elaborate entrance called a gopuram.

For those who do not know, the Palayam Juma Masjid was first built as a tiny mosque in 1813 AD. The mosque was updated and expanded throughout time to remain relevant in the ever-evolving world. Dharma followers go from all over the world to this mosque, which is located in the center of the city.

People leaving one place of worship is a common sight here (after presenting their sentiments of thanks, as the case may be, to the Powers). They fervently believe that as the prayers are offered to two or more powers, their case becomes stronger, so they enter the next person’s place and continue the procedure.

For a very long time, the celebrations of each distinct faith have been held in peace because of the followers’ peaceful coexistence. Nobody has invaded another person’s property up until now. All three faiths’ adherents actively participate in and support one another’s celebrations.

The Soldier’s Mosque, also known as Pattala Palli, is another shrine that has great significance in Kerala, in addition to these religious establishments. In the center of Kozhikode, it is situated across from the Muthalakkulam Ground and close to the Palayam Market. The mosque was reportedly constructed with troops in mind.
