To prevent disasters, work on 50 dark areas, Mahendragarh authorities advised

In an attempt to prevent traffic accidents, Deputy Commissioner Monika Gupta gave the pertinent authorities instructions to focus on 50 black spots identified by the district police at a meeting on road safety and the Surakshit School Vahan Policy that was conducted in Narnaul today after a four-month break.

Notably, the authorities were obliged to hold the conference after a traffic accident in Mahendragarh on April 11 claimed the lives of six kids; otherwise, it had been postponed three times in the previous 20 days, with the excuse being administrative.

In order to reduce the risk of traffic accidents, she gave the appropriate authorities instructions to block any unauthorized cuts on the roadways, make sure street lights are present in dark spots, and erect signboards at all such important locations.

The DC ordered authorities to conduct an inspection of the area and devise a strategy for the safe crossing of all buses on the bypass since Kultajpur Road is home to numerous private schools and many of their buses utilize this route.

Notably, in the six months from July to December 2023, the area had a total of 227 traffic accidents, resulting in 188 injuries and 113 fatalities. Of them, thirteen suffered severe injuries.

According to reports, “black spots where a radium board regarding the maximum speed limit and other sign boards are needed” include Shahbajpur T-point, Kalia Nangal bus station, Dholi Pahadi T-point, Nizampur Chowk, Kultazpur Turn, Hassanpur Chowk, Nizampur T-point, and Faziabad Chowk.

They said that because of heavy traffic, the routes connecting Narnaul city and NH-11, Narnaul-Rewari road, and Khanpur-Dhani Bhatota road were also vulnerable to accidents. They added that authorities had been instructed to make sure that there were markings for the edge line, center line, jersey barrier, traffic signal, and speed breaker.

The DC instructed the authorities to provide red light at key locations and build lamps at every junction on the city bypass.
