Rohtak Constituency Watch: Bhupinder Hooda’s stronghold to shape the political landscape

Rohtak, one of the important Lok Sabha constituencies and a stronghold of former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda and his son MP Deepender Hooda is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s political climate come election day.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP successfully ousted the Congress from the Rohtak seat. Dr. Arvind Sharma, the BJP’s candidate, defeated three-time MP Deepender by a margin of 7,500 votes.

While Arvind Sharma is once again one of the leading candidates for the party ticket, Deepender has confirmed his candidacy and begun campaigning, despite the fact that neither the BJP nor the Congress have yet selected their nominees.

Courtship disputes

Because of his divisive remarks, defiant demeanor, and “good and bad equation” with former minister Manish Grover, MP Arvind Sharma gained notoriety. Sharma said that the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) program was carried out improperly and with corruption. His remarks gave the Congress further justification, as MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra called for a CBI investigation into the situation.

At a temple complex in Kiloi village, Grover and other BJP officials were being held up by farm activists. Sharma then threatened Congress leaders, saying, ‘eyes would be gouged out and hands hacked off if anyone attempts to hit Grover.”

Sharma also poked fun at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, saying that despite his honesty, Grover and other politicians had an impact on him. By accusing the local administration of sabotaging Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s virtual inauguration of an elevated track, the BJP MP stoked yet another controversy.

An improvement in the district’s infrastructure

The Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy at Deverkhana (Jhajjar), the nation’s first elevated rail project, and the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi-Hisar train line have all been open to the public in the last five years.
The traffic congestion at five level crossings on the Rohtak-Gohana line has been resolved with the commissioning of the elevated track.
A total of Rs 80 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation of the railway stations in Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, and Kosli. Additionally, a double rail line from Bhali (Rohtak) to Bhiwani, a new rail line from Farukhh Nagar to Dadri via Jhajjar, an extension of the Bahadurgarh Metro to Aasoda Todran, the CGHS Wellness Center in Rohtak and Bahadurgarh, and an orbital rail corridor from Palwal to Sonepat via Bahadurgarh have all been approved.
A Rs 400-crore project has been designed to address the waterlogging problem in Jhajjar and Rohtak; of that, Rs 158 have been authorized.
Over thirty trains are guaranteed to stop or be extended at different railway stations.
