Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer, was arrested during a demonstration in Tamil Nadu

The police in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, have apprehended Sarwan Singh Pandher, the leader of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), Punjab, who was spearheading the farmers’ protest at the Punjab-Haryana border.

According to reports, Pandher and other agricultural leaders attempted to set fire to the Modi government’s effigy as a form of protest for not getting their requests met.

Gurmeet Singh Mangat, Manjit Singh Rai, and Harvinder Singh Masania were among the other individuals in custody. They arrived in Coimbatore yesterday and were allegedly arrested while destroying the Center’s effigy.

Pandher said over the phone that the police had arrested him and many other people.

“We were informed that after a meeting with the SSP and Deputy Commissioner, we would be released tomorrow. Tomorrow in Coimbatore, we are going to have a “Kalash Yatra,” which will be observed by the Tamil Nadu government’s nodal officials. We will continue our protest until the MSP guarantee legislation is enacted, farmers are released from debt, and the Lakhimpur Kheri issue is resolved, he said.
