Sirsa DC examines voting places and EVM strong rooms

To discuss election preparations, District Returning Officer/Deputy Commissioner RK Singh called a meeting of the nodal offices engaged in the district’s election process. The Returning Officer gave the required directions after inspecting the voting places and EVM strong rooms that were set up at Bhodia Khera College.

In order to guarantee the prompt announcement of results, he instructed all assistant returning officers (ARO) to submit round-by-round reports on the day of the election. The returning officer advised all nodal officials to do their jobs with fairness and honesty at a meeting held in the auditorium of the Fatehabad Mini-Secretariat.

According to Singh, candidates and political parties are required by the Election Commission of India regulations to get a certificate from the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) before releasing print advertising in print media on the day of voting and the day before. Since the district’s Lok Sabha election is set for May 25, the candidates must have a certificate in order for their suggested ads to appear in print media on May 24 and 25. If not, it will be seen as a violation of the model code of behavior. He went on to say that in order for the ads to air on TV and local cable TV, ASCI accreditation was also necessary.

He stated that the district administration has provided a toll-free number since 1950 in order to guarantee the unbiased, peaceful, and transparent conduct of the Lok Sabha elections. Anyone may use this hotline to file concerns about the elections. The nodal officer was given instructions by the returning officer to take swift action against anybody who disobeyed the standard code of behavior.

Singh said flying squads will keep a careful eye on adherence to the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha polls. To avoid any infractions, the team’s officers would make sure that the code was strictly followed in each of their assigned locations.
