Student in Kota hangs himself; message reads, “Last option”

KOTA: On the eve of the examination beginning on Tuesday, an 18-year-old JEE applicant hung herself in her Kota house. This makes her the second entrance exam contender to pass away by suicide in the coaching center in a week.

According to DSP Dharmveer Singh, the girl, who lived in Kota’s Shiv Vihar Colony, allegedly sent a suicide note to her parents, indicating that the stress of studying for the test had overwhelmed her.
“I’m suicidal, mommy and papa. I can’t do JEE.” I am the worst daughter and a loser. I’m sorry, mom and dad. Well, this is our final option, the message reads. The child, the oldest of three sisters, was reportedly under a lot of stress, according to a cousin. She had intended to retake the Class XII test this year in an attempt to raise her score since her previous performance had fallen short of her expectations. She would spend seven or eight hours studying, and she was an excellent student.”
The father of the deceased is employed by a private bank as an armed guard. The family has been residing in Kota for around three years, according to DCP Singh, and is originally from the hamlet of Akawdakhurd in the Jhalawar district.
A 19-year-old NEET candidate from the Moradabad neighborhood of Uttar Pradesh committed himself in his dorm room on January 23. He had spent more than a year studying in a city center for the test. In 2023, 26 student suicides were recorded by Kota.
