Suvendu Adhikari requests an investigation by the NIA into the Ram Navami violence in Bengaluru

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in West Bengal, wrote to Governor CV Ananda Bose, requesting an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into altercations that occurred during a Ram Navami parade in Murshidabad.

Adhikari, in an article on X, attributed Wednesday’s (April 17) confrontations in Murshidabad’s Rejinagar region to Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of Bengal and the leader of the Trinamool Congress, and her “provocative speech.”.

“The Ram Navami Processions were disrupted and attacked at various places across the State of West Bengal, due to the CM’s provocative speech, which successfully incited miscreants, who were assured that the Law enforcement Agency won’t act against them as their hands have been tied due to CM’s public stance on Ram Navami; a day, which according to her, ‘Is a day for Rioting’,” he wrote on Thursday, April 18.

In addition, he asked that the Bengal Chief Minister be investigated by the Election Commission on the grounds that her “provocation led to such untoward incidents.”

On Wednesday, stones were thrown from rooftops at the Rejinagar march, injuring over twenty persons. Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code prohibits large gatherings in the area (IPC). Social media users were able to see many footage of the fights. As the situation worsened, police used lathi charges and gas shells to scatter the gathering. According to the BJP, stores have been vandalized.

Murshidabad Medical College has accepted the wounded individuals. Later on, the situation was brought under control, and more troops were sent in to uphold law and order.
