Telangana Chief Minister KCR Slams the BJP for their “Privatization” of the coal and energy industries

K Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, criticized the BJP for allegedly supporting the center’s privatization efforts in the coal and energy sectors. After opening the new Integrated District Collector’s office on Friday evening, he addressed a crowd in Mancherial and criticized the Congress for “selling off” a 49 percent interest in the state-run miner Singareni Collieries.

The Government of Telangana and the Government of India jointly own The Singareni Collieries firm Limited (SCCL), a government coal mining firm, on a 51:49 equity basis. He claimed that Singareni Collieries, established during the Nizam rule, belonged to Telangana.

When Telangana was constituted and BRS took office in 2014, Singareni Collieries’ revenue increased from Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 33,000 crore, he said. He said that the Congress had “sold off” a 49% part in the Singareni Collieries to the Centre when it was in office because it had not paid back debts.

He said that the Singareni Collieries would “sink” if the current BJP-led government at the Centre privatized coal mines. “If I tell you the ‘golmal’ behind this, you’ll be shocked. Coal is not in low supply throughout the nation. Together with Singareni, the eastern and western coalfields, 361 billion tons of coal have been discovered in the nation and are accessible to people, he added.

“However, what is going on in the nation? When 361 billion tons of coal reserves are present in the nation, it is promised that we would privatize Singareni, power, coal mines, and employment associated with electricity. What unwise policy is this? “What’s going on in this country?” he questioned. Rao, who discussed the state government’s attempts to improve Singareni Collieries, predicted that the government coal mining firm will be extended and turned into a fantastic source of employment.

He said that although though there is a lot of coal in the nation, it is not being utilized and is instead being imported from Australia and Indonesia. Because injustice is pervasive across the nation, the TRS has been transformed into the BRS to address it, and this struggle will be conducted nationwide, he stated.

“While the Congress made Singareni Collieries sink half, the BJP is now out to make it sink fully,” he said. Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke out against the privatization of Singareni Collieries when visiting the region, he stated that after he arrived in Bengaluru, coal mining bids were announced.

While the Telangana administration offered a 24-hour power supply, other states are experiencing a power crisis. He said that power outages occur even in the National Capital. Rao, better known as KCR, proposed a $1,000 increase in the social security pension paid to those with disabilities as Telangana prepares to have elections this year’s end. After the increase, the pension will be worth Rs 4,116.

During his visit to Mancherial, he unveiled two new initiatives: the program to provide homeless poor people homes “pattas” and the program to help financially individuals from the lower classes who rely on traditional jobs. He also started the second part of the initiative to provide animals to sheep farmers. The Chief Minister highlighted the numerous welfare and development programs of his administration during the public meeting, including the distribution of free electricity to farmers, the Rythu Bandhu investment program for farmers, the Rythu Beema life insurance program for ryots, the provision of piped drinking water to households, and the success of water projects.
