The Himachal Pradesh Poll Panel said that women may continue to fill out papers for grants of Rs. 1,500
The Election Commission has approved the completion of applications for women to get financial assistance of Rs 1,500, subject to the condition that no additional recipients may be added until the model code of conduct is implemented.
On March 26 of last month, the state administration made an inquiry to the Election Commission of India (ECI) about the continuation of the form-filling procedure for women to get monthly financial aid.
The ECI has now said that although the form-filling procedure may go on as it has in the past, no new beneficiaries may get the benefit. Additionally, it has been made clear that filling out forms during an election campaign should not be made public.
Before this, the Deputy Commissioners in the districts had halted the form-filling procedure in accordance with the Secretary of the Department of Justice and Empowerment’s instructions.
