Champai Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, assigned ministers’ portfolios on Friday, retaining personnel and interior ministries for himself.

The Department of Personnel, Department of Home, Department of Cabinet Secretariat, Department of Vigilance, and Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha were retained by CM Soren.

The ministries of women and child development and social welfare were assigned to Bebi Devi, the excise minister in the previous Hemant Soren administration, while Basant Soren was given responsibility for developing infrastructure, constructing roads, and managing water resources.

In the meanwhile, Rameshwar Oraon receives the Department of Finance and the Department of Commercial Taxes, while Banna Gupta receives the Department of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare as well as the Department of Disaster Management.

Similarly, the departments of rural works, panchayati raj, and rural development were kept by Alamgir Alam (Congress).

Badal will remain the minister of agriculture and animal husbandry, while Satyanand Bhokta has been handed control over the labor portfolio and the industries department.

Hafizul Hasan was given the ministries for youth affairs, sports, tourist registration, and minority welfare.

Champai Soren took the oath of office as the state’s chief minister earlier on February 2. The coalition administration prevailed in the floor test on February 5 with a 47:29 majority.

With 29 seats, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and its 17-seat ally, the Congress, were sure they would easily pass the confidence vote.
