The India-Japan military exercise begins in Rajasthan

At the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan, the fifth iteration of the joint military drill “Dharma Guardian” between the ground forces of India and Japan got underway. A yearly exercise lasting two weeks is alternately carried out in Japan and India.

Each contingent included forty members. A battalion from the Rajputana Rifles represents the Indian Army, while soldiers from the 34th Infantry Regiment represent the Japanese side.

In accordance with the United Nations Charter, the exercise aims to promote military cooperation and improve combined capabilities to carry out joint operations in semi-urban environments. High levels of physical conditioning, teamwork, cooperative tactical exercises, and the fundamentals of special weapons abilities would all be highlighted throughout the event. Establishing a temporary operating base, constructing an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance grid, erecting a mobile vehicle checkpost, conducting cordon and search operations in a “hostile village,” and performing helicopter-borne operations are just a few of the tactical drills that will be practiced during the exercise.

Additionally, Lt General Togashi Yuichi, the Commanding General of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Eastern Army, is expected to go to India.
