The proposed ‘Paschim Banga Divas’ will be discussed in an all-party meeting that the West Bengal chief minister has called on August 29

According to a reliable source, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has convened an all-party conference to discuss the planned “Paschim Banga Divas” on August 29.

Before making any decisions in this respect, the CM wishes to have a talk with the leaders of all political parties and get their opinions on the “Paschim Banga Divas,” he added.

“The CM will conduct an all-party gathering on Paschim Banga Divas, August 29. The state secretariat will host the event. She is curious about other political figures’ perspectives on having the statehood day on Poila Baishakh, he told PTI.
Poila Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali calendar, was selected as the “Paschim Banga Divas” by a committee that the state parliament set up earlier this week.

The committee’s recommendation has been sent to Banerjee for final approval. Sources claim that Rabindranath Tagore’s “Banglar Mati Banglar Jol” is at the top of the list for the “state song” that the committee has also suggested. The bureaucrat said, “Discussion on that as well will be held during the meeting.”
