Today’s Farmers’ Tractor March puts heavy traffic on the Delhi-Noida border

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) are organizing a tractor march today. In advance of the event, the Noida Police has issued a traffic advisory alerting commuters to possible interruptions and detours in the Delhi-Noida border area.

The BKU intends to carry out a tractor march from Mehndipur in Rabupura to Falaida along the Yamuna Expressway. The police have enforced prohibitory orders under Section 144 and stationed extra officers at important entrance and exit points in Delhi and Noida in order to guarantee the event’s safety.

Tractor marches are scheduled to pass past the Yamuna Expressway, Luharli Toll Plaza, and Mahamaya Flyover, according to the farmers’ groups.

The Noida Police have provided a traffic alert with specific strategies to mitigate the expected interruptions to traffic. Automobiles heading from the DND border may use the elevated route via the Film City overpass in Sector 18, while vehicles going from the Chilla border can utilize the Sector 14A flyover via Golchakkar Chowk in Sector 15. Likewise, cars coming from the Kalindi border may use Sector 37 to cross the Mahamaya overpass.

To minimize disruption, the advice recommends Yamuna Expressway travelers to use other routes or take the metro. There will be limits for goods trucks on some roads; drivers are encouraged to think of other ways to get where they’re going.

As the farmers made the decision to call off their planned march towards the nation’s capital, the Delhi police yesterday removed some of the obstacles at the borders of Tikri and Singhu.

The SKM declared that today would be “Quit WTO Day” and demanded that the Center put pressure on industrialized nations to exclude agriculture from negotiations at the World Trade Organization.
