Tripta Tyagi, a teacher, has been summoned by the UP Minorities Commission in connection with a case of Muslim student assault

The Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate and Basic Shiksha Adhikari have been called before the Uttar Pradesh Minorities Commission after outcry over a Muslim youngster being slapped on a teacher’s command in Muzaffarnagar, UP. The instructor Tripta Tyagi, who was seen on camera criticizing other races in the episode that leaked online, has also been called before the commission.

The Uttar Pradesh government and the state police received a notification from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) requesting a thorough report on the Muzaffarnagar event. The panel declared that, if accurate, the information in the media report amounts to a breach of the victim’s human rights. The committee also observed that as of August 28, the instructor had not yet been detained.

NHRC publishes notifications.
The Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and director general of police have both received notifications from the NHRC asking them to provide a thorough report on the situation within four weeks. The NHRC said that the report should contain information concerning the teacher’s punishment, the status of the FIR filed, any restitution made to the affected family, and any actions taken or planned to be taken to stop such occurrences from happening in the future.

The instructor was accused by the Uttar Pradesh police of non-cognizable offenses, which resulted in a non-cognisable report (NCR) that required judicial action. The police can only look into the matter and make an arrest upon a judge’s order. It differs from a First Information Report (FIR), which allows the police to launch an independent investigation. Since the video went viral, the hashtag #ArrestTriptaTyagi has been in demand on X.

The school’s administration claimed that they were occupied responding to the show-cause notice that the education department had filed on them about the school’s affiliation as the reason why the school stayed closed for a fourth day on Tuesday. The worried student has been sent to a different private school a few miles away from Khubbapur hamlet.
