Udhampur: A significant number of women vote at “pink booths.”

Women and first-time voters showed enthusiasm as they turned out to vote in the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat election.

Women voters flocked to the pink booths set up by the constituency’s district administrations in large numbers throughout the day.

Despite the intense rain, a sizable contingent of female voters flocked to the “pink booth” at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Doda town as early voting got underway this morning.

At these pink booths, where there were exclusively female personnel, long lines of women could be observed in Udhampur, Kathua, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar. To guarantee that an increasing number of women participate in the voting process, these booths were erected.

Sadaf Jan (45), an Udhampur voter, said that the presence of pink polling booths has helped women who would not otherwise feel comfortable leaving their houses to cast their ballots. She said that these booths made the voting procedure simple.

For the elections, only the Udhampur district had nineteen pink booths built up. There are also female security officers stationed at these stations.

Mansi Sharma, a Kathua district resident, said that many women may not have been willing to wait in line for extended periods of time at voting places due to lengthy lines of men and women. But all women were able to come and vote at the pink booths since there were only female employees and voters, according to Sharma.
