under response to Trinamool’s “no alliance” warning, Congress claims talks are under progress

Moradabad: In response to Derek O’Brien, the MP for the Trinamool Congress, saying that his party would run alone in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Jairam Ramesh said on Saturday that the Congress and the TMC are now in talks to form an alliance in West Bengal. While the politician played down the leader’s statement, he stated that “we respect Mamata Banerjee” and that the two parties continue to have intense debates.

On the fringes of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Jairam Ramesh made the statement.

Conversations are in progress. For TMC, we are always here. He told ANI that Mamata Banerjee and the TMC have said that their primary goal is to fight the BJP and that they want to strengthen the India Alliance.

“We respect Mamata Banerjee, but there are still heated discussions between the two parties,” he said.

O’Brien, a close ally of Banerjee, reaffirmed on Friday that West Bengal’s 42 Lok Sabha seats would be contested by the Trinamool Congress.

“West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said a few weeks ago that the TMC is contesting all 42 seats in Bengal. We are also contesting many seats in Assam and the Meghalayan Tura Lok Sabha seat. He said, “There is no change in this position,” signaling the party’s unwillingness to form an alliance with Congress, a partner in the INDIA bloc.

The Congress has finalized its seat-sharing agreements with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, after some early snags.

“What matters is that the coalition (in UP) has made a public declaration.Giving it a final shape takes time. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress will also formally declare their partnership today. Ramesh said today, “I always emphasized that it needs time, even though it was being repeated over and over again that Congress is sluggish and uninterested.

Last month, Mamata Banerjee said that her party will only run in the Bengali elections. She said that while she had given the Congress two seats, the plan had been turned down by the group.

Later, Banerjee unleashed a vicious assault on the Congress, claiming that the party will not even get 40 seats in the Lok Sabha.

“I don’t think Congress will win forty.” I would have let them win and offered them two seats. However, they want more. Alright, then let’s compete on all 42. Turned down! Since then, there hasn’t been any communication with them, she said earlier this month.

Nonetheless, the Congress has been making a lot of effort to appease Banerjee. Earlier last month, Jairam Ramesh said that the INDIA bloc would not exist without her.
