upcoming 15-story automated parking garage at Nampally Metro

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) is nearing completion on a multi-level car park (MLP) complex that is automated and computerized, close to the Nampally Metro station. HMRL MD NVS Reddy visited the structure on Sunday and said that it is almost finished. He instructed the developers to begin the trial runs by May and to wrap up the task early.

Constructed on HMRL-owned half-acre property, the 15-story MLP complex has the German Palis parking system and is said to be the first of its type in the nation.

The complex is comprised of five commercial levels and ten parking floors, with a total built-up area of about 1,44,400 square feet. Sixty-eight percent of the overall space is set aside for the parking of two hundred and fifty four-wheelers. The MLP was built for Rs 80 crore with a 50-year concession duration by New Delhi-based Bhari Infra Pvt Ltd.

“Among other reasons, the project had delays because to Covid-19, issues with loan financing, the worldwide supply chain, and interruptions. Now that all of the imported items are here, they are being repaired, Reddy said.

The most advanced automatic parking technology was used in the design of the MLP. Turntables are installed at four “in or out” (I/O) terminals on the complex’s ground level.

A car’s driver may simply park their vehicle on the assigned I/O terminal’s turntable. Regular users will get permanent RFID cards, while users or drivers will receive smart cards as soon as their vehicle enters the MLP. After being directed to the designated I/O terminal, the user or driver may easily leave their automobile on the turntable by swiping their smart card through the card reader to unlock the I/O terminal’s gate.

In contrast to the few other automated parking complexes in Delhi, Mumbai, and other cities where the driver must battle to keep the car on the restricted allotted area of the turn tables, Reddy emphasized that the turntable is large enough for any vehicle to be easily kept on it.

The car will be automatically classified as either an SUV or a sedan by the computerized parking system based on its specifications. A transporter shuttle will then take the vehicle by an elevator to its assigned location on the chosen level and park it there.

When the motorist pays the parking price and presents the parking ticket to the card reader, the car is immediately retrieved by a transporter shuttle. The car will always be delivered such that driving doesn’t need reversing. According to Reddy, parking takes less than a minute, while retrieval takes barely two.
