Veteran Delhi journalist Zafar Agha passes away at age 70

Zafar Agha, the chief editor of the National Herald, passed away early on Friday at a south Delhi hospital after a short illness. He was seventy.

His son Moonis survives Agha, who started his career in journalism with Link Magazine in 1979.

At Vasant Kunj’s Fortis Hospital, he passed away.

Over the course of his 45-year career, he has also contributed to The Patriot, India Today, ETV, Business and Political Observer, and Inquilab Daily. He worked with the National Herald group during his last employment, first as editor of the Urdu daily Qaumi Awaz and subsequently as editor-in-chief of the National Herald.

Until 2017, Agha was also a member of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions and later its acting chairman.

He attended Yadgar Hussaini Inter-College in Allahabad. He completed his English master’s degree from Allahabad University.

This evening, the seasoned journalist will be laid to rest in the Hauz Rani cemetery.
