Visa scammers in Hisar are still on the rampage

Young people without jobs who want to go overseas in quest of work sometimes fall victim to dishonest scam artists who offer them opportunities abroad.

The Hansi police hired a travel agency three days ago with the intention of tricking two young people out of Rs 12.40 lakh by claiming to transfer them to Croatia.

Another young person from the Hisar hamlet of Bhaini Amirpur has now filed a complaint, claiming that four people defrauded him of Rs 28.3 lakh by claiming to be able to transfer him to Australia.

Jitender, the victim, said that the suspects, Pradeep, Mahender, his brother Chatar, and Ayush, had promised him a work visa and a job in Australia. He claimed to have given them a total of Rs 28.3 lakh at various points in time.

The complainant said the suspects gave him a visa and a flight to Dubai and promised to send him back to Australia after he spent around ten days there.

On July 25 of last year, I left Chandigarh and traveled to Dubai. I continuously urged them to arrange me an Australian visa when I arrived in Dubai. They later arranged for a revoked visa. I was unable to go to Australia as a consequence, so on September 11 I left Dubai and came home,” he said.

After coming home, Jitender said he confronted Pradeep and the others to get his money back, but they refused to comply and even threatened to harm him.

The Narnaund police have initiated an inquiry and filed a complaint against the four accused under Sections 420 and 406 of the IPC.

The state police initiated a targeted campaign against visa scammers last year, who have been enticing gullible job seekers who are willing to pay a high fee to get employment in any other nation.

People have been advised by the police and district administration of their local districts to complete their visa applications exclusively via authorized and accredited agencies, and a list of
